Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum honors Clement, Grove brothers
WEBSTER CITY — Four local residents were recently a part of the inaugural Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum class.
Larry Clement, a well-known race car owner, businessman and sponsor in the area, was honored at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds Events Center. Clement was recognized in the owner/mechanic/builder/manufacturer/car sponsor category.
Junior, Jerry and Jimmy Grove of Fort Dodge were inducted into the drag racing class. Junior and Jerry owned the car, which was driven by Jimmy.
Phil Roberts of Walcott was the master of ceremonies. Historian and vice president Bill Haugland of Waukee read profiles and shared stories. President Marty Pringle of Otho and Dick Griffith of Webster City handed out commemorative plaques.
The Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum was founded in 2016 by ”people who are passionate about all aspects of the racing experience and are dedicated to the preservation of the rich history of racing in Iowa,” according to the organization.
Pringle, Griffith, Dylan Huffman (Fort Dodge), Teresa Huffman (Webster City), and Burke Plain (Webster City) are on the Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum’s board of directors.
