EMS code of conduct approved

Webster County council also handles money matters

EMTs and paramedics in Webster County will now be subject to a code of conduct that is much like the ones private and public employers have.

Dr. Racheal Lewis, the emergency physician who is the medical director for EMS units in the county, said Wednesday evening that it “mimics what most places of employment have.”

“I don’t think there’s anything super controversial in it,” she told the county Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.

She said violations of the code could result in someone losing their ability to be an EMT or paramedic in Webster County.

The council unanimously approved the code.

In other business, the council voted to reimburse the county for the time that Auditor Shaunna Abrams and Krystal Lloyd, the budget and finance director, spent working for the council before EMS Coordinator Scott Richard was hired.

The council agreed to pay the county $40 per hour that Abrams and Lloyd worked, up to a maximum of $5,999.99

Also on Wednesday, the council approved buying 50 Webster County Emergency Medical Service patches for $200.

In March 2025, Webster County voters approved a new levy of 75 cents per $1,000 of taxable value to support emergency medical services. It is expected to generate about $1.6 million a year.

Starting at $4.94/week.
