Tritons travel to Highland

HIGHLAND, Kan. – The Iowa Central football team is still searching for its first win of the season.

The Tritons (0-3 overall) will head to Highland (2-1) on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

“They have an explosive offense,” said Iowa Central head coach Kevin?Twait. “Their quarterback (Kahlil Render) is their offensive leader.

“He is really talented and a dual threat guy.”

The Tritons are coming off of a 44-25 loss to Ellsworth inside Dodger Stadium.

The Tritons struggled offensively, only managing 86 yards of total offense. and commiting five tournovers. They have 11 turnovers in the last two games.

The Tritons’ special teams had a huge game last week, as Isiah Thomas (75 yards) and D’Anthony Bell (80 yards) returned kickoffs for touchdowns.

Davonte Ellis recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a score and Carsten?Bosch returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown.

Highland has beaten Dodge City (26-16) and Graceland JV?(52-2). Their only loss is a 13-7 setback at Garden City.

“We have to put something together offensively and get in the red zone,”?Twait said.?”We have to try and get this ship going in the right direction.”
