To the editor: The YWCA of Fort Dodge would like to give a resounding thank you to all those who gave their time, talents and gifts to make the YWCA Silver Showcase a HUGE success! Supports Snell-Crawford Park

To the editor: Fort Dodge has many parks to explore and the Fort Dodge Noon Rotary Club encourages you to explore Snell-Crawford Park, which our club adopted many years back. Snell-Crawford Park has walking and biking trails, playground equipment, sand vollyeball courts, a disc golf course, many picnic tables, grills, public restrooms, historic Granger Cabin and a 45-person cabin that is available to rent. Please encourage the city officials to reopen the road access to the center of the park again. The City Council will visit this road access in the near future and the Fort Dodge ...

Fears the country is heading for trouble

To the editor: When I was growing up I always heard ignorance of the law is no excuse. I was always told no one is above the law. When did all that change? If we still have a United States Constitution, how can we let it happen? Do we delete words like ethics, morality, fairness, equality, justice and empathy from the dictionary? Have been brainwashed to think they’re meaningless? And what about lying, is that acceptable now? For myself a name comes to mind that has the first two letters as what we are in now TRouble! To the editor: Last week I saw something on the national debate stage I have not seen before and I am still thinking about. Race and diversity was a major topic. I listened to the different views and opinions, and one that particularly stood out was Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris who was forceful and gave direct attention to issues that affect many. Hillside holiday lights to return

To the editor: The miracle of Christmas is on 202 Second St. This story could not have been told if it was not for the character bestowed to one man’s dream to have the largest Christmas in the world. I did not achieve that, but on Facebook five years ago, I was number eight for the most unique display because almost everything you see is handmade. That was good enough for me and this will be my 35th year. The cost is the biggest hurdle every year. Woman veteran asks for unity

To the editor: I am writing this on behalf of my fellow female veterans among us. The trend these days is for our male veteran brothers to wear ball caps displaying their veteran status showing their service in Vietnam, the ship they served on or even their retirement for the many loyal years serving our country. God bless ’em! I met my husband, Gordon, 51 years ago during the Vietnam War. We were going through basic training and we met at the Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Illinois.
