Fears jurors not impartial for Trump trial

To the editor: Anyone who’s been summoned to jury duty knows they question you about any prejudices you might have that may sway your judgment. They will drop you in a heartbeat if they believe something keeps you from basing your verdict on only facts and evidence. The Senate impeachment trial already has the jurors picked by you the voters. The jurors will be asked take an oath from a chief justice. I’d like to report a crime to the American people. Lindsey Graham is going to commit perjury the second he’s sworn in to be an impartial juror. Apparently he thinks he’s above the ...

Says Democrats’ effort to remove Trump will fail

To the editor: After three years, Democrats in control of the House of Representatives finally made good on their efforts to impeach President Trump. Don’t kid yourself. House Democrats Nancy Pelosi, Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff are not sincere when they stand before the microphones and say Democrats are sad and take no pleasure in impeaching Trump. During the last days of the hearing held by the House Judiciary Committee some Democrats were seen paying more attention to their cell phones than the hearing proceedings and Chairman Nadler fell asleep, at least twice. Appreciated bingo game

To the editor: I would like to thank Santa (The Messenger) for the $1,000 I won. It was so much fun watching and waiting every day for the three months for the bingo numbers and to fill my card. Thanks to Mark, who delivers my paper for getting it to my door usually by 6 a.m. Imagine my surprise when that last number showed up. I was on my way to Fort Dodge bright and early. I would also like to thank Friendship Haven for the gift and for sponsoring this contest with The Messenger. It was lots of fun. Merry Christmas and many thanks. Joan Kollmorgen Humboldt

Thanks community for coat drive

To the editor: The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge and Shimkat Motor Co. would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support for the 10th annual Coats for Kids coat drive. This joint project collects coat donations, both new and gently used, as well as other winter items to distribute to children in our community who are without a warm coat facing our cold Iowa winter. The need is great and through your coat donations and financial donations we gave away a record number of coats this year. Approximately 528 coats were distributed plus hats, mittens and snow pants ...

Gateway Discovery thanks donors

To the editor: Two very generous anonymous donors recently challenged Gateway to Discovery / Hope Sweet Hope Studios with two $20,000 matching grants. Any monies given up to this amount in October through December would be tripled. Thanks to the donors and thanks to literally hundreds in Fort Dodge and the surrounding area, GTD / HSHS has not only met its goal but exceeded it! In November, GTD / HSHS held its annual “It’s a Chocolate Thing” chocolate tasting fundraiser. Thanks to the hundreds of people who attended and those who helped make it a huge success. Especially thanks ...
