Caroling will begin at 5:30 p.m. The service will begin at 6 p.m. The service will include six biblical readings from the Old Testament book of Isaiah and the gospels of Luke, Mark and Matthew. The combination of the longest night of the year and Christmas creates difficulties for many who simply are not able to have a Merry Christmas. Loss of loved ones, fear for job security, loss of home or family, or fear of health issues cause many to shut down during the holiday season. First Congregational United Church of Christ will hold its annual Christmas cookie walk “Cookies ‘n More” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, 1611 Williams Drive. There will be Christmas cookies, Christmas crafts, and baked goods. Shoppers can stop and have a cup of coffee and a cookie while shopping.
St. Paul Lutheran School, 1218 Fourth Ave. S., is holding its first St. Paul’s Holiday Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 15. There will be a variety of crafters and vendors along with crafts for children. This is a fundraiser for the school.
