Two added to FD Police Department

Two new Fort Dodge police officers have been hired. Constancio Gomez is a native of California who graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. He is a veteran of the Iowa Army National Guard, who is pursuing an associate degree in criminal justice. Ethan Krieger is a native of Kamrar and graduate of Northeast Hamilton High School. He has worked for the Hamilton County Jail, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and Eldora Police Department. Both were introduced to the City Council Monday.

Domino’s to move one block

Domino’s will apparently be moving one block east of its current Fort Dodge location. The Fort Dodge City Council on Monday approved a plan to sell some city-owned land at Fifth Avenue South and 16th Street to the pizzeria. It also voted to sell some other city-owned land at Fifth Avenue South and 19th Street for the construction of a new small grocery store. Domino’s is currently located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue South and South 15th Street. City of Fort Dodge considers vehicle leasing option

The Fort Dodge city government may someday lease many vehicles instead of purchasing them. In a report to the City Council, Assistant City Manager Ryan Maehl wrote that leasing of vehicles is being studied as a way to relieve pressure on the city budget. Details, such as the types of vehicles that would be leased, are still being worked out. But Maehl wrote that a leasing plan with Enterprise Fleet Management is being considered.
