Candidates for various Webster County positions coasted to their party’s nominations with no opposition during Tuesday’s primary election. County Attorney Darren Driscoll, a Democrat, won 1,129 votes. He has no primary opponent and no general election foe. He was appointed to serve as county attorney in February 2018 to replace Jennifer Benson. He won his first term in the November 2018 general election and was reelected in 2022. County Treasurer Brenda Angstrom, a Democrat, is also completely unopposed, with no primary or general election competition. She won 1,161 votes ...

Supervisors approve purchase of tractor

The Webster County Supervisors approved the purchase of a John Deere tractor for the Secondary Roads Department Tuesday. The supervisors approved the purchase of a John Deere 6140M tractor from KC Nielsen, Ltd. for $157,800.63. The tractor will be a replacement for another in the Roads Department’s fleet. According to Webster County Engineer Jamie Johll, the tractor will be paid for from FY27’s budget. Sports, theater building at FDSH gets OK

A separate building housing a weight room and a shop for building stage scenery was included in the Fort Dodge Senior High School renovation proposal that voters approved last year by passing the needed borrowing authority. On Tuesday, the city’s Board of Adjustment gave its OK to that building, which may become one of the first pieces of the $42 million high school project to get underway.
