Traffic restriction planned for Williams Drive

Williams Drive south of 13th Avenue North will be reduced to one lane Thursday, according to an announcement from the Fort Dodge Public Works Department. Public Works employees will be making repairs on the road there.

Dawson, McGowan to face off for House seat

Dave Dawson won the Democratic nomination for the Fourth Congressional District, while Chris McGowan was unopposed for the Republican nomination. They will compete in the November general election to replace U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra, who did not seek reelection so that he could run for governor. Dawson won 39 percent of the Democratic votes, or 11,261 votes, according to unofficial election results released by Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate. Stephanie Steiner won 30.49 percent, or 8,803 votes. Ashley Wolf Tornabane won 30.37 percent, or 8,767 votes.

Lahn wins GOP governor's nomination

Zach Lahn narrowly won the Republican nomination for governor Tuesday. He won 37.65 percent of the vote, or 80,765 votes, according to unofficial election returns released by Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate. He edged out U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra, who won 36.88 percent or 79,113 votes. Adam Steen won 14.49 percent, or 31,087 votes. Brad Sherman won 7 percent, or 15,076 votes. State Rep. Eddie Adams rounded out the field with 3.59 percent or 7,694 votes.
