Where do you teach?

Feelhaver Elementary

What grade/subject do you teach?

Title 1 Reading

Why do you teach?

I teach because I love working with children. Every day is an adventure. I want school to be a safe and fun place for all students to learn and feel successful.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

My favorite part of the school day is small group reading, which for me takes place all day. During small group reading, I build relationships with students and teach them reading strategies they can use in the classroom and beyond. I get to help them set goals for themselves and celebrate with them as they meet those goals.

What are you working hardest on right now?

Right now I am working hardest on learning new strategies to use with my students. I am making adjustments to how I teach based on my new learning and training in order to help all students succeed.

What are you most proud of as a teacher?

I am most proud of seeing students grow and apply their learning throughout the year. Their progress inspires me to continue learning and growing as a teacher as well.

What makes you the happiest as a teacher?

It makes me very happy as a teacher when I see students having fun while applying their new skills. School should be a place to enjoy learning.

What are your interests/hobbies outside of school?

Outside of school, I enjoy reading, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. My husband and I also enjoy traveling and visiting national parks.

What do you wish your students/families knew about you?

I wish my students and families knew how much I cherish getting to know them. Your kids are funny, sweet, and caring! They make me smile every day.

What does Together We Rise mean to you?

Together We Rise means if we work together we can achieve our goals and continue improving. We are committed to collaborating in order to help our students succeed.
