STEPHANIE WILSON

Where do you teach?

Butler Elementary

What grade/subject do you teach?

Second grade

Why do you teach?

I teach because I love working with children and helping them to learn and grow.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

My favorite part of the school day is at the beginning of the day and during our labs time. These are times of the day that are more relaxed and provide an opportunity for me to really connect with and get to know my students.

What are you working hardest on right now?

I am continually working to build and maintain a safe, positive learning environment for all of my students.

What are you most proud of as a teacher?

As a teacher, I am most proud when my students accomplish something that was challenging for them. I love seeing them push through those challenges and how proud they are of themselves for doing so.

What makes you the happiest as a teacher?

I am happiest as a teacher when my students and I are able to relax and have fun while learning and growing together.

How do you contribute to/how are you involved in the community outside of school?

While I don’t live in Fort Dodge, my family is from the area and I grew up visiting often. My husband and I will often bring our children to the different activities and events happening around the community.

What are your interests/hobbies outside of school?

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and watching movies.

What do you wish your students/families knew about you?

I want my students and their families to know how much I care about them. I know that each one of them is an individual who is unique and special. I strive to learn and grow my skills as an educator so that I am able to give students and families my very best every day.

What does Together We Rise mean to you?

Each one of us is unique and special. We all have areas of strength and we all have areas of weakness. This can make it difficult to rise and achieve all on our own. However, when we come together and unite around a common goal, there is no limit to what we can achieve. All of us — students, parents, teachers, and community members — have an important part to play in building a strong future for every child.
