Where do you teach?

Feelhaver Elementary

What grade/ subject do you teach?

Second grade

Why do you teach?

I teach because I love working with kids and I want to be able to be a positive influence on my students. I want to help them be successful both in and out of the classroom.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

My favorite part of the day is our morning meeting time. We get to start the day together as a whole class. This time gives me the opportunity to build connections with my students and allows them to build connections with their classmates.

What are you working hardest on right now?

Right now I am working hardest to use different ways of teaching to meet all of my students where they are so they can all gain new skills.

What are you most proud of as a teacher?

I am most proud as a teacher when I see my students using skills we have learned in school to help them solve a problem on their own either academically or socially.

What makes you happiest as a teacher?

I am happiest as a teacher when I watch my students learn something new and be successful with something they may not have thought they could do.

How do you contribute to/how are you involved in our community outside of school?

Outside of school I like to volunteer in my local parish doing various things.

What are your interests/hobbies outside of school?

I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two sons. We enjoy spending time outside and watching Iowa State games.

What do you wish your students/families knew about you?

I wish my students and families knew how much I love working with them every day. I enjoy learning and having fun with my students every day and watching them grow throughout the year.

What does Together We Rise mean to you?

Together We Rise to me means that it takes everyone; at home, at school and in the community, working together to do what is best for the kids. When we work together we can help them achieve great things.
