Dodgers successful at Special Olympics State Bowling

Twelve Dodger athletes placed in the Special Olympics State Bowling meet in Des Moines on Nov. 23. Seven of the athletes earned first place, four earned second place and one earned fourth place.

Students finishing in first place and earning gold medals were: Slade Babb, Sydney Derrig, Jasmine Hamilton, Kaleb Hammersland, Dylan Lincoln, Marlene Sassman and Ty Stephens.

Students finishing in second place and earning silver medals were: Robin Everhart, Kylene Fetters, Payton Wuebker-Brookshire and Avery Dial.

Finishing in fourth place and earning a ribbon was Logan Schwieger.

“It’s such an amazing experience for our students to be able to compete at the State level,” said Liz Rusher, Fort Dodge Community School District Special Olympics coordinator. “The kids did fantastic. I’m so proud of all their efforts and success.”
