What Seniors Are Saying

In step with Alicia Reed Fort Dodge Senior High

Editor’s note: This Q&A features high-performing seniors from Fort Dodge Senior High and St. Edmond High School throughout the school year.

1 What programs and activities do you participate in?

Captain of the color guard team, National Honor Society, National Council on Youth Leadership, Silver Cord, Ambassadors, Special Olympics, musical, Winter Guard, state solo for color guard, jazz choir, A capella choir, solo ensemble for choir, Advanced Placement classes, advanced/college classes.

2 What academic accomplishment are you most proud of?

Getting accepted to Iowa State University.

3What’s your best piece of advice for younger students?

Get busy. Even if you don’t think you will like it, do it! Don’t worry about the time; it will be stressful at first but you will get used to it and be so glad you did. Also, don’t follow your friends. Make new ones because more than likely you won’t have the same friends you came into high school with as you leave with.

4What is your go-to song or artist?

Recently it has been “Fire on Fire” by Sam Smith but you can’t go wrong with Pentatonix or Panic! at the Disco.

5What is your favorite class or subject and why?

Marching Band because I love color guard.

6What is your favorite movie?

I like scary movies so probably “The Conjuring” or I really like Disney movies. (Yes, they are both really different.)

7If you could have dinner with someone famous, who would it be?

Elon Musk because he inspires me and I would love to run some ideas by him.

8What are you working hardest on right now?

Getting scholarships and other things all ready for college like saving money and upping my ACT score.

9Who is your role model in life?

I would say my mom (Tonya Reed). She’s what I’ve seen most during my childhood. Always works hard to get me anything I could ever want. She never showed how much it took for her to do this, but now that I’m older I see what all she’s sacrificed. Thank you, Mom.

10What is your favorite memory from your time in Fort Dodge schools?

The long bus rides or trips anywhere with any group. They are always super fun — especially the ones on band trips, like the trip to New Orleans.
