Dodger Academy expands

Registration starts today

Dodger Academy, the Fort Dodge Community School District’s after-school program, is expanding to include fifth grade this fall. Dodger Academy is a comprehensive academic enrichment program that serves TK-fifth grade students from around the district at Butler Elementary after the regular school day. The program is available from 2:45 to 6 p.m. on school days and students are transported from their school building to Butler Elementary by school bus.

A typical day consists of a snack provided by the USDA, the Power Hour and enrichment activities. During the Power Hour, students receive homework assistance as well as participate in math and reading enrichment activities. All activities are research based and linked to what the students are learning during the regular school day. Once the Power Hour is complete, students participate in a variety of academic, enrichment, cultural and recreational activities. Many of these activities are provided in collaboration with community partners.

There is a fee for Dodger Academy. The cost for the first child to attend is $120 per month. Families then pay a reduced fee of $80 per month for each sibling.

Dodger Academy details and sign up will be part of the online registration process July 1-26. Please take a few minutes to learn more about Dodger Academy on the “Parents” tab of www.fdschools.org. Those interested may sign students up during the online registration process.
