Ledford has internship with Gov. Kim Reynolds
Question and Answer with Haley Ledford, 2018 St. Edmond Catholic School graduate, about her internship with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds
• When did you start?
I started working in the governor’s office in late August and will work the rest of the fall semester.
• Where are you attending college and what is your major?
I’m attending Drake University in Des Moines and majoring in international relations and French. I plan on going to law school for agricultural law after undergrad.
• What is your position with the governor?
My official title in the office is communications intern. I do a lot of letter writing, printing certificates, working with proclamations, and answering constituent phone calls.
• Do you have any comments about your experience as an intern?
It’s been really fun so far. It’s interesting seeing Iowa’s executive branch from the inside after spending my spring as a page in the Senate (legislative branch). Working within these branches has given me great networking opportunities, as well as a first-hand look at the system of checks and balances. Being completely encompassed by it has opened my mind and is truly a unique extension to what I was taught in school. I find my work very rewarding, and I learn something new about Iowa or state government every day.
