St. Edmond H.S. competes at festival

The St. Edmond music department participated in the Iowa High School Music Association Solo/Ensemble Festival April 8.

The festival focuses on the performance of individual or small groupings of musicians and awards each performance with a rating from 1 to 5.

St. Edmond brought 18 vocal events and 21 instrumental events to Bishop Garrigan to perform.

Out of these events, the groups achieved two Division III “Good” ratings, 18 Division II “Excellent” ratings, and 18 Division I “Superior” ratings.

Also of note was a standout performance by Brooklin Border, who was awarded “best of center” for her flute solo. Border will go on to perform in a showcase at Iowa State University May 10.

St. Edmond High School music instructors include Kersten Tipping; vocal, and Kelly Weber; instrumental.
