St. Edmond students named to All-State

The St. Edmond high school music department has announced the accomplishments of Iris Peimann, Rachel Sherry, Megan Flattery, and Zephan O’Connor as they were accepted into the 2017 Iowa All-State Band and Choir.

Iris, the daughter of Kim and Aaron Peimann, was accepted for the first time for band on the French horn.

Rachel, the daughter of Cheryl Sherry, was accepted for the first time for choir as a soprano.

Megan, the daughter of Debbie and Dave Flattery, was accepted for the second time as an alto.

Zephan, the son of Sean and Angela O’Connor, was accepted for the second time as a tenor.

The 2016 Festival will celebrate its 70th anniversary. District auditions for the 281-piece All-State Band, 201-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Oct. 22 at Storm Lake High School. Approximately 17 percent of the students who audition are selected for membership. They will rehearse and perform later this month in Ames, with the final concert performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.
