Sac County Quilt-A-Fair entry deadline is Thursday

SAC CITY — Quilt makers and quilt owners, it is time to get those special quilts entered for the Sac County Quilt-A-Fair. The quilt show takes place on Sept. 19 and 20, but registration forms for quilts to be displayed must be completed in advance. Registrations are due on Thursday. Print copies of the registration forms are available in Sac County libraries. Forms can also be downloaded and printed from the barn quilt web site: www.barnquilts.com. Program honoring the last day of World War II is today

The Webster County Historical Society holding a free program celebrating the anniversary of the end of World War II from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today in the large meeting room at the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave. A display of various military images, articles and other items will be on display from the Webster County Historical Society and other military organizations in the community. Community blood centers, like LifeServe Blood Center, collect approximately 60 percent of the nation’s blood supply. Annually, it takes thousands of generous volunteer donors to support local hospital patients through blood donation. 2025 Support Our Veterans Ride is Sunday in Lu Verne

LU VERNE — The 2025 Support Our Veterans Ride is Sunday at The Handlebar, Lu Verne. Sign-in is 9 to 10:45 a.m. Registration is $25 per vehicle, all types of vehicles are welcome. Breakfast burritos will be available at sign-in. The ride will leave Lu Verne at 11 a.m. Stops include Johnny’s at Wesley, Corwith Legion at Corwith, The Gold Bar in Goldfield, Blue Moose in Renwick, Flipside in Lu Verne and returning to The Handlebar, which will offer a nacho and baked potato bar following the ride.
