Voices from the Past

The Kossuth County Genealogical Society and the Algona Affiliate of AAUW will be hosting their 14th annual cemetery walk during Founders’ Day weekend in Algona. An indoor version will be presented at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Tietz Entrepreneurial Center meeting room on the Algona campus of Iowa Lakes Community College, 2111 Highway 169 North in Algona. Enter under the blue canopy on the south side. This venue is handicapped accessible, air-conditioned and bug free. The public is invited to attend. There is no admission charge.

WEBSTER CITY — Kendall Young Library will be having story/activity programs for all ages throughout July. Children’s Summer Reading Program — Patrons, birth to fifth grade, are invited to join in a variety of “Plant a Seed, Read” summer programs. WEBSTER CITY — Kendall Young Library will hold Adult Programs throughout the month of July. Adult Summer Reading Program — Adults are invited to join in a variety of “Plant a Seed, Read” summer programs. There is a “Summer Bucket List Challenge, Fancy Your Flowerpot Contest, and a variety of events celebrating America 250 throughout the library. King Band concert tours the world — musically

The summer concerts by the Karl L. King Municipal Band will continue for three more Sunday evenings on July 12, 19 and 26. Concert time is 7:30 p.m. at the historic Karl L. King Band Shell in Oleson Park. There is no admission charge courtesy of the City of Fort Dodge. The Southeast Valley School Fine Arts Boosters will again provide ice cream and baked goodies before the concert for a freewill donation to their school programs. Vacation Bible school is Tuesday through Friday

St. Olaf Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church are partnering to hold vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Thursday for ages 6 to 12 years old. The theme is “Lego and Trust God.” There will be an Option Fellowship Camp until 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Lunch will be provided to those staying. On Friday, it will end at 12 p.m. with a block party. Family members are invited to attend. The cost is by freewill donation. It is being held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 239 N. 11th St.

Federated Garden Club to meet

The Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. on July 21 at the Lion’s Den, 731 Exposition Drive, Fort Dodge. The program will be on Honey by Stripling Apiaries. The public is always welcome to attend.
