Everyone is invited to Duncombe Fun Night

To the editor: The Duncombe Elementary School Fun Night is back. The Duncombe Booster Club would like to invite everyone to attend this year’s Fun Night today from 3-6 p.m. The event will take place at Duncombe Elementary, located at 1620 Sixth Ave. N., Fort Dodge. Disappointed in coverage

To the editor: I was extremely disappointed in The Messenger article on the Choral Society concert held last Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church. The article gave gracious accolades to all the soloists and the director by name. There was also an excellent local string quartet from the FD Symphony Orchestra which remained nameless and what about all the marvelous singers who donate their rehearsal time? Are they men, women, students, how many are there? It’s always appreciated when all contributors to a cultural event are appreciated and recognized. Marjorie Franks Fort Dodge

To the editor: In his State of the Union address, President Biden claimed his administration had cut the deficit by more than $1.7 trillion in the last two years. Not true. In 2021, Biden’s first year in office, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan that provided an additional $1.9 trillion in COVID relief funds. Given there was no revenue to cover the cost of the plan, Biden created deficit spending (excess of expenditures over revenue) of $1.9 trillion and added $1.9 trillion to the nation’s debt. Sees need for carbon pipelines

To the editor: I am a fifth-generation farmer in Humboldt County. The corn I raise is delivered to Gold Eagle Coop and is manufactured into livestock feed or ethanol, and the beans are manufactured into oil and meal. For more than 20 years, I have also worked off farm in the livestock industry. I understood that the grain I raised needed to be used locally to keep the basis strong and demand high. Has questions about pipeline

To the editor: Referring to Jared Strong’s article in the Tuesday Feb. 21 Messenger, Monte Shaw indicated all ethanol plants in Iowa will close if the pipelines aren’t built. They probably won’t even be able to sell the inventory that they have on hand. Then we are to assume that all the other ethanol plants in the U.S. are all carbon free. I wonder what the status of the ethanol plant in California is, that Bill Gates invested millions in. Is that plant carbon free? Do the math of the number of ethanol plants divided by the total dollars the three pipelines will invest. ...

To the editor: Am I woke? Why, yes I am. I’m wide awake and alert to racial prejudice and discrimination. My question is, why isn’t everyone? Oh, that’s right, Iowans tend to bury their heads in the sand. Does it take a wake up call? A Chinese weather balloon invades our airspace and next thing you know three more objects are shot down.
