Likes police chief’s idea

To the editor: The Messenger articles on “How do we stop the violence” have been excellent. As a very interested Fort Dodge citizen, the last article, a talk with Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn, I found his suggestion to be a community volunteer and give an hour per week a wonderful idea. Perhaps The Messenger’s next end violence article could list places and organizations that could use volunteers and what sort of service is needed, i.e., art, music, sewing, reading, math, sports simple communications. To the editor: The 18th annual Swing for a Cure golf outing was held on June 9 this year at the Fort Dodge Country Club. We had 36 teams that enjoyed the fun-filled day. The outpouring of generosity and support this event receives year after year is a wonderful tribute to this community’s members and businesses. The event raises funds that are utilized in the outpatient Diabetes Center at Trinity Regional Medical Center. To the editor: Great shot Mr. Stevens! You definitely hit a grand slam homer last week with your writing about Tom Tierney. How did we get such a great guy in a plain brown wrapper? I spent the first 16 years in Rutland, Iowa, and am very familiar with Rose Mill Park. An amazing crowd of enthusiastic shoppers bought a large percentage of our plants during the first two hours.
