To the editor:

Many years ago, I was at campaign headquarters for an important local race. We were setting up to make phone calls for our candidate and, as always, looking for volunteers. In walked this teenage young man. I was skeptical , but glad for the help, put him to work. I soon learned that I had the future of Fort Dodge eagerly working. He came in early, stayed late and worked endless hours. When I asked why he was not off with friends or finding other activities, he shyly replied that this was important work. He believed whole heartedly in the candidate and wanted to assure the best future for the community he lives in. I knew then I was working side by side with a future leader in Fort Dodge.

That future leader became a councilman. Cameron Nelson began his leadership as a teen and continues today by representing Ward 2. Cameron is the future of this community and a proven leader. For the past two years, Cameron has represented his ward and the people of Fort Dodge with the same dedication and work ethic he showed many years ago.

I hope and pray the people of Ward 2 will cast their vote for this proven leader. We need more young men like Cameron to secure the future of Fort Dodge and keep us moving ahead.
