31 FDSH students qualify for state speech

Fort Dodge Senior High students prepared 36 entries for the Iowa High School Speech Association District Individual Speech Contest held Feb. 29. Thirty-one Fort Dodge Senior High performers received Division I ratings and will move on to the State Individual Speech Contest on March 14. FD Community Schools name March students, employee of the month

The Fort Dodge Community School District has announced its students and employee of the month for March. This program recognizes one elementary, one middle school and one high school student, as well as one staff member monthly for exceeding expectations. Evie Piton is the Elementary Student of the Month. Kelsey Albrecht nominated her. She said Piton has a strong work ethic and always tries her best. Students perform at district piano auditions

Thirty-eight area piano students, involving seven piano teachers, participated in the Iowa Music Teachers Association district pre-college piano auditions on Feb. 1, held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Students are grouped into levels according to age. In each level, a winner is selected to advance to the state auditions, which will be held on March 14 at Iowa State University. Candyland Carnival planned at Community Christian

Candyland Carnival is a new public event hosted by Community Christian School, 2406 9 1/2 Ave. S. Candyland Carnival is a family focused, carnival-style extravaganza, utilizing virtually every room in the school building. It will be held March 7, from 4-7 p.m. Games, prizes, photo booth, face painting and treats will be included.
