State Rep. Helen Miller, D-Fort Dodge, has received the Friend of the Iowa Soybean Farmer Award from the Iowa Soybean Association.

The award was given to her in recognition of her efforts to champion the importance of agriculture among fellow legislators, according to an announcement from the association. Specifically, she was honored for her work in agricultural education and founding the Urban Ag Academy, which informs legislators from non-agricultural areas around the country about farming.

”Those of us who work around ag policy ask ourselves how we can involve legislators in the conversation and the Urban Ag Academy does just that,” said Don Brown, of Cargill. Cargill is the award sponsor.
