Myers sweeps throwing events

POCAHONTAS — Freshman Rihanna Myers swept the throwing events at the Pocahontas Area Invitational here on Tuesday. Myers led St. Edmond, winning the Class B shot put and discus titles. She had a throw of 33-11.25 in the shot put and 88-6 in the discus. The Gaels were also first in the 4x200 relay behind the quartet of Kenzie Nolte, Ava Bradley, Breckyn Ulrich and Brianna Saathoff, as they finished in 1:56.08. Dodgers, Lloyd both place 2nd

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls golf squad joined junior Emma Lloyd in earning runner-up honors at a quadrangular on Tuesday. Lloyd carded a 45 to pace the Dodgers, who had a 209 as a team at Bright Grandview Golf Course. Ottumwa (196) was the winner, and Des Moines North’s Saleah Vivian-Vong (37) took meet medalist honors. Kinsley Nelson (51), Brielle Crouch (55) and Emersyn Lara (58) had the other counting scores for FDSH. Des Moines East and Des Moines Lincoln also competed in the event. The Dodgers are scheduled to compete at Ames in a make-up dual on Thursday.

GOWRIE — The Southeast Valley girls track team came away with four championships at their home co-ed meet on Monday night. Ogden (136) was the girls winner, while the Jaguars (112) were second. Newell-Fonda (109) placed third and South Central Calhoun (102) was fourth. Sage Lane was the lone individual gold medalist for SV, capturing the 400 hurdle title in 1:15.11.
