No. 5 Tritons top No. 10 Blackhawks

The Iowa Central baseball team claimed a Top-10 battle with No. 10 Southeastern here Monday at Rogers Park, 17-4.

The fifth-ranked Tritons (40-10 overall, 18-10 in ICCAC) improved to 25-5 at home this season and reached 40 wins for the second straight year.

Jake Busson connected on three home runs, driving in six. Jack Mausser and Troy Berg both went deep, as Mausser was 3-for-4 with four RBI and four runs scored while Berg plated three.

Will Smoot drove in three and Zakary Goodwin scored twice with three hits.

Anthony Steinhoff finished off the complete-game, striking out a pair while allowing just five hits.

Iowa Central finished off a three-game sweep of Southeastern, scoring 45 runs. They have posted at least 10 runs in 13 games this month and 33 times this year.

Riding a four-game win streak, Iowa Central will head to Creston Wednesday for a twinbill with Southwestern before closing out the season this Friday and Saturday with three games vs. Ellsworth.
