BOONE — Gabriella Buscher secured a Top-5 finish here to lead the Bishop Garrigan girls golf team at the Class 1A state championships on Friday.

Buscher was fifth overall, as Mount Ayr’s Jaylee Shaffer claimed her second consecutive title at Cedar Pointe Golf Course.

In the team race, the Golden Bears tied for fourth with Westwood. Easton Valley secured a three-peat atop the standings, with Highland second and South Winneshiek third.

Along with Buscher, Lucy Eisenbarth was 33rd overall, Addison Kuper finished 38th, Ava Snider was 57th, Graclyn Eastman placed 69th and Hailee Reutzel was 71st.

Emmetsburg’s Calista Joyce finished 13th overall in 2A, shooting 165. Azlyn Amonson of Eagle Grove was 26th overall with a 174 two-day total.

Pleasant Valley claimed the 4A team title, setting new 18- and 36-hole scoring records, as Camille Wood won the individual championship in a playoff. Dubuque Wahlert bested Gilbert for the 3A team crown, as Gilbert’s Ava Lohrbach shot a 7-under for the individual crown.

In 2A, Roland-Story picked up team honors while Kirsten Nuss of New Hampton was the individual champion.
