SE girls can’t catch Cadets
IOWA FALLS — The St. Edmond girls came up short here Tuesday night vs. Iowa Falls-Alden, 63-51.
Coming off a 10-point win over Eagle Grove on Monday, the Gaels (4-13 overall, 3-8 in North Central Conference) were unable to keep the momentum going early, falling behind by 10 to the Cadets (10-9, 7-5) early and by 13 at the break.
Chloe Palmer had 16 points with Payton Bradley scoring 13 and Josie Harvey 12.
“We got off to a slow start and just weren’t playing with our normal energy,” SEHS head coach CJ Tracy said. “After a quick timeout, we got going and into our flow on both ends.
“Payton hit a big three-pointer at the end of the first. It’s great having her back out there after missing some time.”
For the Cadets, Ella Sharar scored 26 and Brooklyn Handeland added 11.
“I thought we battled some adversity well,” Tracy said. “The girls never gave up and even after falling behind by 20 in the second half, cut it down to 10 and gave themselves a chance.”
Earlier this year, Iowa Falls-Alden won in Fort Dodge, 45-38. The Cadets have not lost to St. Edmond since 2017.
The Gaels are back in action for their third game this week on Thursday, hosting Pocahontas Area. Varsity tip is set for 6:15 p.m.
St. Edmond then takes on Algona at home on Friday.
