Crockett grabs four medals

Jerry Crockett scored four medals to lead the Fort Dodge eighth-grade boys track and field team here at the Dodger Relays Thursday night.

Fort Dodge placed fourth overall behind Iowa Falls-Alden, Ames and Dallas Center-Grimes. Humboldt was fifth, with Marshalltown, St. Edmond and Webster City rounding out the standings.

Crockett captured gold in the long jump with a best of 18-4, placed second in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.50 and was third in the 100. He also ran the anchor on the bronze 4×100-meter relay alongside Chance Lockman, Tristen Hennick and Brody Evans.

Lockman was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 5-2, as Evans was second in the 400 in a time of 1:00.0.

Fort Dodge’s 4×200-meter relay of Emilio Cardenas, Jace Bockoven, Ronan Kavanagh and Abraham Glay placed third, as did the sprint medley relay of Lockman, Hennick, Evans and Brentley Osorio.

Leading the way for the Gaels was Jack Stucky, as he placed second in the long jump (16-10) and was third in the 400-meter run.

Stucky also ran the anchor on the runner-up 4×400-meter relay with Gavin McClain, Oliver Gruver and Brady Temple joining him. They had a time of 4:08.60.
