Dodgers defeat Boone

BOONE — The Fort Dodge girls swim team finished the regular season with 10 victories against Boone on Tuesday.

The Dodgers (7-3 overall) easily handled the Toreadors, 106-79, right before they head to the Iowa Alliance Conference meet in Ames.

“It was a nice confidence boost and we were able to do some fun things with our events,” said FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont. “The girls were able to mix things up a little in our final dual of the season.”

Fort Dodge earned eight golds — with three double winners — and captured two relay golds as well.

Hailey Vogel was champion in the 50 freestyle (25.35) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.27). Southeast Valley junior Julia Eastman prevailed in the 200 freestyle (2:07.98) and 500 freestyle (5:42.69).

Manson Northwest Webster senior Raegan Woldridge was the 200 IM champion (2:27.55) and also captured gold in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.24).

Kylen Lubensky (1:11.88) was the 100 backstroke champ, and Gracie Harvey took home gold in the 100 freestyle (1:01.73).

The 200 medley relay quartet of Eastman, Wooldridge, Harvey and Vogel hit the wall first in 1:58.68.

The team of Harvey, Wooldridge, Addison Daniel and Lubensky won the 400 freestyle relay (4:13.80).

“It was nice to see Kylen win an event at the varsity level,” Beaumont said. “Raegan had a good 200 IM, and Hailey had a nice time in the 100 fly.”

Delaney O’Connor competed in the Iowa Alliance Conference diving competition on Tuesday. O’Connor placed fifth.

“This is only her second season of diving,” Beaumont said. “Our conference is tough in diving.

“The (IAC) meet will be tough with top-ranked Ames being the team to beat, but we will also see them again in regionals, so it’s good to get an early look (in the postseason).”

Dodger JV swimmers win five events

BOONE — The Fort Dodge junior varsity swimmers won five events in Boone on Tuesday.

Ellie Schiek was a double winner for the Dodgers, capturing the 50 freestyle (33.56) and the 100 breaststroke (1:32.41).

Teagan Loots was the 200 freestyle champ (2:34.99). Claire Thompson placed first in the 100 freestyle (1:19.80).

Madalyn Sankey touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke (1:28.68).
