No. 5 Tritons roll in finale

The fifth-ranked Iowa Central baseball team finished off the regular season in convincing fashion here Saturday afternoon at Rogers Park.

After taking a twinbill from Ellsworth last Friday, the Tritons scored a 19-4 victory in seven innings over the Panthers in the series finale.

On the season, Iowa Central (44-11 overall, 22-11 in ICCAC) went 29-5 at home while winning four in a row and eight of its last nine overall.

Former Fort Dodge Senior High standout Jace Ulrich went 2-for-2 with a home run while driving in two. Harrison Bowman plated four runs with Cooper Nicholson, Troy Berg, Michael Siemer, Will Smoot and Jack Mausser each recording two RBI.

Bowman had three hits as Nicholson, Berg, Siemer, Smoot and Mausser all had two each.

Ryan Ohm improved to 8-1 on the year, striking out seven over five innings with just two hits and no runs allowed. Zach Bates finished things off with a three-strikeout inning.

Josh Kirchhoff had five strikeouts and earned his eighth win in the series opener as Braxton Shaffer pitched the final three with five strikeouts to pick up the save.

Siemer and Smoot both had two RBI, Peter Johnson scored twice and Siemer had two hits.

In a 4-2 win on Friday, Bowman had two hits and two RBI with Berg scoring twice. Ian Culver moved to 9-1 with six strikeouts while Jake Busson earned his fourth save.

The Tritons will host the Region XI Tournament beginning here Thursday.
