Dodgers second in Eagle Grove

EAGLE GROVE — The Fort Dodge girls track team nearly came away with a team title at the Lady Eagle Relays on Thursday.

Algona (128) was the team champion, while the Dodgers (127) finished second.

Fort Dodge won five events in their silver medal finish.

“We ran really well,” said Fort Dodge head coach Todd Constable. “McIlrath had some really quality 400 times and that’s good for only the second meet.

“It was a great meet overall and we were competitive. We have some things we need to clean up and we are far from where we need to be.”

Lainey Maehl (shot put) and Aliyah Henry (discus) were champions.

The sprint medley squad of Keyonna Douglas, Ava Wessels, Catherine Daniel and Mackenzie McIlrath were also first.

The distance medley quartet of Brooklyn Pommer, Heidi Clay, Maggie Elsbecker and Morgan Bodholdt were also champions.

The 4×100 team of Aneliese Schuur, Daniel, Wessels and Elleena Dunn were champions.

The 4×400 team of Elsbecker, Lucy Porter, Eileen Fierke and Bodholdt were second.

Porter (400), Mariah Myers (shot put) and McIlrath (400 hurdles) were also second.

The 4×200 team of Dunn, Daniel, Ereziah Jones and Wessels were third. Maeleena Meyer was third in the 100 meter hurdles and McIlrath was third in the high jump.

Starting at $4.94/week.
