Tritons bounce back at WS
ENID, Okla. — The Iowa Central baseball team bounced back with an impressive 7-1 victory over Jones here Monday at the NJCAA Div. II World Series.
The Tritons (51-10 overall) dropped a 16-9 decision in 10 innings to Monroe in the opening round this past Saturday, but could be seeing the Tribunes again at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
Awaiting Iowa Central will be the winner between Frederick and Monroe at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in an elimination game.
Carter Giesen went eight innings, striking out six with seven hits allowed on the mound, improving to 6-1 on the year. Jack Radcliffe had a home run, driving in two, as Wyatt Myers and Will Specht both had two hits.
Specht and Sam Sejnoha each drove in a run, with Myers scoring three times and Ben Jones twice.
In the loss to Monroe, the Tritons could not overcome eight errors, as Specht was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Jones had three hits, scored twice and drove in two more, with Tate Perrin scoring three runs.
