Clarksville advances
Cailyn Hardy has herself a game here Tuesday night, and the Clarksville softball team is headed to the Class 1A semifinals because of it.
Hardy struck out four and allowed just four hits, going 2-for-4 with three RBI at the plate as the Indians knocked off Southeast Warren, 7-1.
Clarksville (29-1 overall) meets North Linn (37-6) on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. on Iowa Central Field for a spot in the finals.
Emmalee Manwarren had three hits and scored twice with an RBI, while Jenna Myers, Rachel Borchardt and Hannah Wangness each drove in a run for the Indians, who broke a scoreless tie with five in the fifth.
This is the fifth time in the last seven seasons that Clarksville has reached state, including a title in 2020 and a runner-up finish the year before.
Southeast Warren (25-7), who placed second a season ago, will take on Sigourney (26-5) in a consolation game Wednesday at 3 p.m. on Dodger Field.
Jaycee Neer had two hits for the Warhawks, with Breanna Nolte scoring the lone run.
