Appreciates Sonshine Singers help for Lord’s Cupboard

To the editor: As director of the Lord’s Cupboard, I would like to express our appreciation to the audiences and the members of the Sonshine Singers, for the awesome donation given to us as a result of offerings taken during their final performances February 14, 15 and 16, 2019. Their ministry has touched a lot of lives over the past twenty years and they have shared offerings with many organizations in the communities where their members live and work. To the editor: “Thank You” are two very small words that cannot possibly convey the love and mutual admiration the Sonshine Singers feel toward our audiences that have faithfully attended and supported our many ministries over the last 20 years. As we sang God’s praises (in February), all those present felt the power of the Holy Spirit as we together celebrated His love for us. Through the generosity of our wonderful congregations, we were able to give to both the Lord’s Cupboard and The Food Pantry a wonderful donation to supply for the needs of others. To the editor: Holy Trinity Parish would like to thank the Sonshine Singers, not only for their gift of uplifting music that they have given to the community over the years, but also for their recent donation to Holy Trinity Food Pantry. The Sonshine Singers were gracious in giving a portion of what they received from the public freewill offerings at their concerts, to Holy Trinity Food Pantry. To the editor: Here’s a short unsubstantiated story attributed to Ernest Hemingway. As the story goes, Hemingway was challenged to write a compelling story in just six words. He wrote: “For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.” This powerful story is becoming the reality that describes America. Millions of babies will never have the opportunity to wear shoes because their lives have been snuffed out. This tragedy could end with another six-word story: “God loves. God forgives. Job well done, city recycle truck driver

To the editor: It was recycling day for my neighborhood this morning, so I placed my dumpster out the night before. I knew we had several inches of snow in the forecast and didn't want to drag the dumpster out over the snow in the morning. Through the night we received at least 5 inches of snow. When I looked out the window in the morning to see the snow amount, I noticed the snow plows had knocked the recycling dumpster over on its side, not all the way over but at least half over. To the editor: We often hear that the state’s financial reserves are set aside for a “rainy day” and I am writing this letter to say It Is Raining! The mental health needs of our children in Iowa are intense and growing and the time has come to mobilize our efforts to support an estimated 1 in 5 children (Youth Mental Health First Aid) who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or other diagnosable illnesses. We need to advocate with our policy makers to take some of the $127 million that Governor Reynolds touted as “flush reserves” in January’s ...
