Community Manna Meal is Nov. 11

The First United Methodist Church Manna Meal will be held at 5 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the church, 127 N. 10th St. The meal will be served by St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Bingo will follow the meal.

Election day soup supper

The First Congregational Church of Christ will host a soup supper on election day from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the church. The menu will include chicken noodle, chili, and vegetable beef soup served with bread, homemade desserts and drink. Tickets are $8, children 5 and younger eat free with a parent. Tickets may be purchased by calling the church office at 573-3817, from church members or at the door.

SALT youth group will meet on Wednesday

The First United Methodist Church youth group SALT for middle-school youths will meet at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, 127 N. 10th St. Children will be picked up at the middle school after classes and parents must pick them up by 5 p.m. A snack is served along with a lesson and lots of games and fun for youths.

St. Mary’s Fall Festival to be held Nov. 12

HUMBOLDT — St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold its Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 12 at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Humboldt. The broasted chicken dinner will include chicken, home grown corn, coleslaw, roll, pie and a drink. Cost is $10. A childrens menu, for ages 4-8, of chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, applesauce and bar is available for $5. Children 3 and younger eat for free. There will be baked goods, jams and jellies and a quilt raffle.

Mental illness explored at Lifetree Cafe

The mysteries and meaning of mental illness will be explored at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Liftree Cafe The program, titled “Mysteries of Mental Illness: One Woman’s Struggle to Regain Her Life,” features a filmed interview with Karen McCracken, a woman diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder, and author of Breaking Free From OCD. “It got to a point that I would have to read every sign I saw when I went somewhere,” McCracken says. “If I saw a sign in my peripheral vision, I thought something bad would happen if I didn’t stop to read it.” During the ...

DUNCOMBE — The United Methodist Church will hold a bazaar and bake sale from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 4 at the church in Duncombe. Quilts, rugs, baked goods, crafts. Coffee and baked goods will be served.
