Mental illness explored at Lifetree Cafe
The mysteries and meaning of mental illness will be explored at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Liftree Cafe
The program, titled “Mysteries of Mental Illness: One Woman’s Struggle to Regain Her Life,” features a filmed interview with Karen McCracken, a woman diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder, and author of Breaking Free From OCD.
“It got to a point that I would have to read every sign I saw when I went somewhere,” McCracken says. “If I saw a sign in my peripheral vision, I thought something bad would happen if I didn’t stop to read it.”
During the program Lifetree participants will have the opportunity to discuss brushes with mental illness they, or people close to them, have experienced.
Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Cafe is located at Cana, 18 S. Third St.
Lifetree Cafe is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting. Questions about Lifetree may be directed to Rev. Barbara Huisman at 302-8036.
