Faith Baptist to hold Friends Day

Faith Baptist Church, 1408 N. 22nd St., will hold Friends Day from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sunday. The event will feature a whole family Sunday school led by evangelist Timothy Silcott, of Altoona. His presentation will include ventriloquism and object lessons with a clear gospel presentation.

Women’s conference set in Palmer church

PALMER — Faith Community Church near Palmer is hosting a 2017 Northwest Iowa Women’s Conference on Nov. 11. The conference will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the church, which is three miles south of Iowa Highway 3 in Pocahontas County. Sharon Jaynes will be the conference’s keynote speaker. Jaynes, of Matthews, North Carolina, is the founder of Girlfriends in God Inc., a non-denominational ministry. The Perrys to sing at Faith Community

PALMER — The Perrys will sing at Faith Community Church near Palmer beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Perrys is a gospel music group that has been performing for 45 years. The group has had multiple songs atop the gospel music charts. It has received 19 Singing News Fan Awards and has been nominated repeatedly for the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award. Fundraiser dinner at Second Baptist

Second Baptist Church will host a ribs and chicken dinner fundraiser at 11 a.m. today at the church, 1827 Fourth Ave. S. The dinner will include two side dishes and a dessert. Cost is $10 per dinner. Money raised will go to the church building fund.

Eating disorders explored at Lifetree Cafe

How to cope with eating disorders and other problems rooted in trauma will be explored at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lifetree Cafe. The program, titled “Triumph Over Trauma: One Woman’s Struggle with Anorexia,” features a filmed interview with a victim of anorexia whose eating disorder threatened to end her life. “The behavior and the addiction are so strong. Breaking that cycle is hell,” the woman featured in the film says. “The recovery was harder than anything I’ve ever had to do, and it meant addressing all the other issues I was facing in my life.” ...

Lord’s Portion Dinner and bake/craft sale

LEHIGH — The Lehigh United Methodist Church will hold its annual Lord’s Portion Dinner and bake and craft sale from 3 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the church in Lehigh. The bake and craft sale will start at 3 p.m. and the meal will be from 5-7 p.m. The menu includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans or corn, salad, roll, pie and a drink. Carryouts will be available. Cost for the meal is $10 for adults, $5 for under 12, preschoolers eat for free.
