Fort Dodge Women’s Connection to meet on July 16

The Fort Dodge Women’s Connection will meet at 9:30 a.m. July 16 at Tea Thyme, 2021 Sixth Ave. S. Cost for the event is $10. The speaker is Diane Dassing from Crest Hill, Illinois. Her subject is “A Tale Without the Fairy.” Dassing shares her search for Prince Charming and the “fairy tale” life. The special feature will be Will Lopes, the head vocal music director at Iowa Central Community College. All area ladies are welcome. Reservations may be made by calling Kathy Meinders at 408-7981.

Good Shepherd to host Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1436 21st Ave. N., is holding a Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church. There will be free hot dogs, chips, water and lemonade. Homemade ice cream will be served for a small price. A freewill offering will be taken with all proceeds going to Lutheran Family Services of Iowa. The rain date is July 14.

FD residents attend Lutheran missionary convention

Fort Dodge residents Mary Rosburg, Susan Macek and Ann McBride attended the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League convention from June 20 to June 23 in Mobile, Alabama. Rosburg served as a delegate to the convention. They were among 3,104 people at the gathering. The delegates adopted a $2.1 million mission goal for 2019 to 2021 that would fund 21 initiatives in the United States and around the world. The Lutheran Women’s Missionary league is the official women’s auxiliary of the Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod.

St. Olaf Lutheran Church to hold outdoor service

St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 239 N. 11th St., will hold an outdoor service at 10 a.m. June 30 in front of the church. A meal will follow. Everyone is invited and urged to bring their own lawn chair.
