Medical issue caused death of man found in Fort Dodge

A deceased man was found behind some commercial buildings near Fifth Avenue South and 29th Street early Monday afternoon. A medical issue caused the man’s death, according to Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn. At about 1:15 p.m., the police and fire departments were dispatched to an area just northeast of the intersection, between a store and a hotel, for a report of a man who was unresponsive. King band scholarship concert set for Sunday

The third and final indoor concert for the 2026 season by the Karl L. King Municipal Band will begin at 3:30 p.m Sunday in the Fort Dodge Middle School Auditorium located at 800 N. 32nd St. There is no admission charge, since these concerts are provided by the City of Fort Dodge. This April concert is the band’s annual scholarship event, with the presentation of the Karl L. King Memorial scholarships. Otho Fireman’s Ball set for Saturday

The 23rd annual Otho Fireman’s Ball will be held Saturday at the Webster County Fairgrounds. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Tickets can be bought at the door or in advance from Fire Department members. A meal will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. by Lidderdale Country Store. The menu is roast beef, chicken and rice, ham balls, green beans, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and taco salad. A live auction will begin at 6 p.m. There will also be a gun raffle, kids games, 50/50 tickets, and a grocery raffle. DJ Duane Murley will provide music until midnight.
