The 1600 block of Second Avenue South will be closed to traffic beginning today, according to the Fort Dodge city engineering staff. It will remain closed for about a week.
This section of road will be closed due to sanitary sewer work.
ROCKWELL CITY - Root beer floats will be offered Wednesday to raise money to maintain the old railroad depot in Rockwell City.
The floats will served beginning at 4 p.m. at 230 Fourth St. A freewill donation will be accepted.
The depot was built in 1899.
In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the offices of The Messenger will close at noon on Monday.

Cera Stroh, of Fort Dodge, graduated from Central College in Pella with Alpha Zeta Mu honors.
To receive that honor, she earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.8.
Stroh was one of 83 Central College graduates to receive that honor.
