New member added to FD Fire Department

Keaton Hepperle has joined the ranks of the Fort Dodge Fire Department as a firefighter. He was introduced to the City Council Monday. He is a graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High School who completed auto body repair training at Iowa Central Community College. He is currently enrolled in the emergency medical technician program at the college. His father, Rob Hepperle, is a part-time EMT for the department.

FDPL storytime registration to begin

Registration for summer storytime at the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., begins Thursday. Children who are 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 years of age are eligible for registration. Storytime will be held: Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Summer storytimes begin on June 5 and 6 and conclude on June 26 and 27. Registration by a parent is required and is accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. Parents may stop by the library or call the children’s desk at 515- 573-8167, ext. 6242.

UDMO to close temporarily

Upper Des Moines Opportunity outreach offices will be closed May 20 through 27. The offices will reopen on May 28. In case of emergency, call the central office at 712-859-3885.

Part of Triton Plaza to be closed

Triton Plaza between Kenyon Road and Avenue O will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays for about two weeks, according to the Fort Dodge Public Works Department. City crews will be doing concrete repairs there.

Five get academic honors at Mercy

Five area students received academic honors for the spring semester at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines. SE to hold retirement celebration for three

St. Edmond Catholic School will be honoring Danielle Rathermel, Jon Koenig and Sheila Huebsch on May 22 at a retirement celebration. The open house will take place from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the school library and all are welcome to attend.
