Flooding closes Webster County roads

Portions of four Webster County roads are closed due to flooding, according to the Webster County Road Department. They are: • Dolliver Park Road through Dolliver Memorial State Park • Fairbanks Avenue south of Iowa Highway 7 • McGuire Bend Road through Deception Hollow • Xavier Avenue between Brushy Creek Road and the border of Webster and Hamilton counties

Police: Accidental shooting injured man

The Wednesday afternoon shooting that injured a man in Fort Dodge was apparently an accident. All the evidence assessed so far indicates that the shooting was an “unfortunate accidental discharge,” according to a report from the Fort Dodge Police Department. The incident does remain under investigation. Police did not identify the injured man or provide any information on his condition. One hurt in shooting, investigation continues

Fort Dodge police continue to investigate a shooting that injured a man late Wednesday afternoon. Police and firefighters were dispatched to 106 N. 10th St just before 4 p.m. for a report of a man who had been shot in the chest. The man was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Fort Dodge sanitation schedule for Memorial Day week

Due to the Memorial Day holiday Monday, garbage, and recycling collection routes for the City of Fort Dodge will be as follows: • Garbage normally collected on Monday will be collected on Tuesday. • Garbage normally collected on Tuesday will be collected on Thursday, May 30. • Garbage normally collected on Thursday, May 30, will be collected on Friday, May 31. Flood warning issued for Webster County

A flood warning is in effect for much of the Des Moines River corridor in Webster County. The warning issued by the National Weather Service is for the area along the river between Fort Dodge and Lehigh. It went into effect Wednesday afternoon and will continue through Saturday evening. Minor flooding in lowland areas along the river can be expected, according to the National Weather Service.
