Part of Seventh Street is closed

Seventh Street between Fourth Avenue South and Meriwether Drive has been closed and will remain closed until further notice, according to an announcement from the Fort Dodge Public Works Department. The street has been closed due to its deteriorated condition, the department reported.

Small fire reported at FD home

A small fire caused relatively minor damage to a Fort Dodge house Thursday evening. The fire at 2547 Woodland Drive was reported at 7:07 p.m. Assistant Fire Chief Matt Price said the fire apparently started in a flower pot for an unknown reason. He said it burned a small hole through the deck on the back of the house, burned some siding and sent some smoke into the house. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour, making sure the fire had not spread anywhere else and ventilating smoke from the house.

Master’s Voice coming to Fort Dodge

Master’s Voice, a Christian singing group, will perform at First Covenant Church in Fort Dodge on Sunday. The free concert will begin at 4 p.m. in the church at 201 Ave. H, north of Iowa Central Community College. Based in Oklahoma, Master’s Voice tours the country. Founded in 1995, its members are Ricky Capps, Jerry Pilgrim, T.J. Evans and Lathan Moore.

Business survey responses wanted

The Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, America’s Small Business Development Center Iowa, Iowa Central Community College and the city of Fort Dodge are conducting a survey in order to better understand the local business climate and regional economy. The data that is gathered from this survey will inform how those entities build initiatives, educate the public and provide resources and support systems. ree pet adoptions offered at Almost Home today

Adoptions of dogs and cats will be free today at the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa for those who have an approved adoption application on file. The Bring Love Home adoption event will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the animal shelter, 725 S. 32nd St. The shelter has a goal of getting 12 animals adopted during those 12 hours today.

Work planned along Kalo Hill road

The county road on Kalo Hill will be restricted to one lane beginning Monday, according to an announcement from the Webster County Road Department. The lane restriction will be in place on Webster County Road P59 (Nelson Avenue) between Riverside Trail and Hilltop Drive. It will be in place through June 21. County crews will be cleaning and regrading the roadside ditches.
