The Messenger will not be published on Saturday in commemoration of the Independence Day holiday. The weekend paper comes out today. The office is closed as well. Check www.messengernews.net over the weekend for breaking news. The Messenger will resume publication on Monday and the office will be open normal hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Holiday changes yard waste disposal

The yard waste disposal options offered by the Fort Dodge Public Works Department will be different this week because of the Independence Day holiday. There will be no curbside collection of yard waste on Friday. The city’s yard waste disposal site at the central garage, 3001 Eighth Ave. S., will be closed on Saturday.

Part of Iowa Highway 3 to be closed

CLARION — Iowa Highway 3 between Clarion and Goldfield in Wright County will be closed beginning Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation. The highway is being closed so that the bridge over Eagle Creek can be replaced. That section of highway is expected to be closed through Nov. 3. Traffic will be detoured onto Wright County Road R33, Wright County Road C54 and U.S. Highway 69.

Boil advisory ended in Otho

OTHO — The boil water advisory for Otho has been lifted, according to the Webster County Emergency Management Agency. The advisory was issued Thursday in response to work on the city’s water tower.
