1 min read

A man was arrested after showing a handgun and threatening to shoot people during a Monday afternoon incident in Dayton.

Kohl B. Anderson, 27, of Boone, was arrested by Webster County sheriff's deputies and charged with domestic abuse assault, display or use of a weapon, first offense, according to criminal complaints.

The incident happened at 3:25 p.m. Monday in a residence on First Street Northwest in Dayton.

Anderson showed a handgun to a woman and her friends multiple times and threatened to shoot people, deputies wrote in the criminal complaints. He also grabbed the woman’s arm and attempted to take a phone from her as she was calling 911, deputies added.

Anderson made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Tuesday morning. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing, which means the case against him will proceed to arraignment and trial.

Magistrate William H. Habhab set bond for Anderson at $2,000 cash only. He also issued an order prohibiting him from having contact with the woman.
