Woman sent to federal prison for dealing methamphetamine

A woman will serve a little more than 12 years in federal prison for dealing methamphetamine in Fort Dodge and Des Moines, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

Pamela Brownell, 64, of Des Moines, was sentenced to 152 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.

She had pleaded guilty on May 28 to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, federal prosecutors reported. They said she conspired to distribute meth between September 2022 and October 2023.

In October 2023, law enforcement officers bought meth from Brownell on two separate occasions. Also that month, a traffic stop and a search of her home yielded 2 ½ pounds of methamphetamine that she intended to sell, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

In 2006, Brownell was convicted in federal court of attempting to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Following her release from prison, Brownell must serve eight years of supervised release.
