Shooting victims identified

Arrest warrant issued for suspect

An arrest warrant has been issued for 17-year-old Davonquae Jyshon “D.J.” Pettigrew, of Fort Dodge, who is wanted for first-degree murder following a fatal shooting in downtown Fort Dodge Tuesday evening.

Pettigrew is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. According to police, he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Pettigrew’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact law enforcement at 515-573-2323. Multiple gunshots were reported at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday in the 100 block of North 10th Street. According to a press release from the Fort Dodge Police Department, when officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male victim with a gunshot wound laying on the sidewalk in front of the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge. The victim was pronounced dead.

Early Wednesday morning, FDPD identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Patrick Walker, of Fort Dodge.

During Tuesday night’s investigation, law enforcement were notified that a second gunshot victim had arrived at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. Law enforcement determined the two incidents were related and the second victim was identified as 20-year-old Silas Hall. According to the FDPD release, Hall’s wound is not believed to be life-threatening.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, Webster County Attorney’s Office, Webster County Conservation, the Special Emergency Response Team and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations assisted in the investigation and controlling the scenes.

The small crowd that gathered at the North 10th Street scene immediately following the shooting included some highly agitated people. A Webster County sheriff’s deputy had to separate some people who were yelling at each other. Another man who ducked under the yellow police line tape and began running toward the crime scene was taken to the ground by multiple officers.
