A Fort Dodge Fire Department boat heads upstream on the Des Moines River from the former Sunkissed Meadows Golf Course as a search gets underway Friday evening for a man who apparently jumped into the water. 911 dispatchers received reports of a man jumping into the water near the Hawkeye Avenue Bridge at 7:40 p.m. The search for him involved the Fort Dodge police and fire departments, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the state Department of Natural Resources and the Otho and Duncombe fire departments. The man was found safe later in the evening after the search on the water had been called off due to darkness.
